10th anniversary celebrations - Manchester

Changing Attitude, formed in 1995 is a network of lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgendered and heterosexual Anglicans within the UK. Its aim is to forward the debate, in Anglicanism, about human sexuality by raising awareness of the issues, education, sharing experiences, building relationships and integrating sexuality and spirituality.

Changing Attitude celebrated its 10th anniversary by inviting the Rt. Revd. Gene Robinson, the first openly gay and partnered bishop in the Anglican Communion – to give an address at St Elisabeth’s Church, Reddish, Stockport on 6th November 2005.

Many hearts were lifted by the rainbow colours brightening the sombre Victorian interior of St Elisabeth’s on that chilly Sunday afternoon. The service and Eucharist, presided over by the Rt. Revd. Stephen Lowe, suffrogan Bishop of Hulme, was a glorious celebration in word, music, colour, procession and song. Most moving of all, during prayers for peace, justice and forgiveness, were the rainbow colours solemnly and silently draped until they covered the whole of the altar.
