FFLAG - SUPPORTING DIVERSITY WITHIN MINORITY ETHNIC COMMUNITIES

FFLAG has extended its family support network to include families from minority ethnic communities by translating and editing its support material into Urdu and Hindi, with essential funding from Barclays.

FFLAG aims to make its family support work more inclusive by offering its education and information literature developed over ten years, to families from minority ethnic communities who have lesbian or gay daughters or sons and who are experiencing difficulties with the issues involved.

The lack of appropriate information in their own languages is a source of difficulty for many families. FFLAG is grateful for the suggestions and advice it has received from those within the communities involved, and particularly to those without whose expertise, knowledge and skills this project could not have been taken forward.

We hope that these resources will be widely used and will help to break down barriers and promote understanding and acceptance within families and their communities.

An appropriately edited version of 'A Guide for Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays' is now available in booklet form in Urdu as well as an audiocassette version in Hindi.
